Dr. Nicolás Hernández Guillén is professor of mathematics at the Universidad de La Habana and president of the Nicolás Guillén Foundation.  He has edited several volumes of the poetry and prose of his grandfather, Nicolás Guillén, Cuba’s most renowned Black poet. Under his leadership, the Foundation has evolved beyond the initial mission of promoting the study of Guillén’s texts and its international projection, to becoming a center for the study of race and international symposia.

Norberto Codina is a poet and a critic and the director of La Gaceta de Cuba, the Writers Union’s main literary journal. He is the author of nine books of poetry, various collections of critical essays on literature and cinema, and editor of several poetry anthologies published in Cuba and other Latin American countries.

Enrique Sacerio-Garí is one of the translators of the recently published (Monthly Review Press, 2013) Race in Cuba: Essays on the Revolution and Racial Inequality by Esteban Morales.
