The Main Line Martin Luther King Association will hold its annual musical
tribute to Dr. King on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. in Bryn Mawr College’s
Goodhart Hall, 101 N. Merion Ave., Bryn Mawr, Pa. 19010. This event is free and
open to the public.
Emceed by NBC10 reporter Daralene Jones, the celebration
will feature performances by local musicians John Pollard; Barry Sames with
Barbara Walker, Joliet Harris and Jimmy Coleman; Daren Miller and the Sweet
Fellowship Inspirational Choir; Maestro’s Kids; and the group JDK, which is
made up of Kellye Hatcher, Jazara Morales, and Danielle Muse.
Longtime community activist Elizaeth “Peggy” Mull Gaskins
and businessman Joseph G. Harley, owner of J. Harly Painting Inc. for more than
25 years, are being honored at the event and the recipients of the 2013-14 Main
Line Martin Luther King Association scholarship will be announced.
An additional celebration of Dr. King’s legacy will be
held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, at the Saints Memorial Baptist Church, 47 S.
Warner Ave., Bryn Mawr, Pa. 19010.

Event Description:This year's annual Martin Luther King celebration, held by the Main Line Martin Luther King Association in conjunction with Bryn Mawr College, features a Musical Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s featured artist:John Pollard; Barry Sames, Featuring Barbara Walker & Joilet Harris with Jimmy Coleman on Drums - "Honoring Gospel Legends Mahalia Jackson & Shirley Ceaser"; Daren Miller and Sweet Fellowship Inspirational Choir; JDK - Kellye Hatcher, Jazara Morales, & Danielle Muse; Bethel Academy Maestros. The Main Line Martin Luther King Association honorees are Elizabeth "Peggy" Mull Gaskins and Joseph Harley. There will be an introduction of our 2013-14 Scholarship Recipients followed by a freewill Scholarship Offering. There will be light refreshments served following the program.
