This lecture is in honor of Professor Francl's appointment to the Richard A. Clowes Professorship in
Science and Public Policy.
This honorary chair was established
in 1995 by The Clowes Fund to recognize and support scholars engaged in
important interdisciplinary teaching and research, particularly those whose
work has to do with the intersection of science and public life.
Previous chair holders include Geology Associate Professor Don Barber and Associate Professor Sara Breth Nassi of the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.
