Jim Neal is the Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian at Columbia University, providing leadership for university academic computing and a system of twenty-two libraries. Previously, he served as the Dean of University Libraries at Indiana University and Johns Hopkins University.  He is a frequent and dynamic speaker and writer on academic libraries, with special interests in the changing nature of scholarly communications in a digital world, and defending scholarly fair use of copyrighted works.
