Chapman Phillips ’81 advocates to be active in
life and to avoid “sitting on the periphery.” Her talk will address how to
harness public speaking to be assertive and achieve your goals. She will
discuss how she has used and developed communication skills. During her talk,
she will share her career path and discuss how she incorporates public speaking
in her many roles.
Phillips is currently the
vice dean for technology-enhanced learning at the Wharton School of Business at
the University of Pennsylvania, where she is also a professor of real estate in
the Real Estate and Legal Studies departments at Wharton, as well as a
professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a professor
of Africana studies at University of Pennsylvania School of Arts & Sciences.
In July, she will assume the role of dean of Lehigh's College of Business and
Economics. In addition to acting as dean, Phillips will also be a professor in
the Perella Department of Finance at the College of Business and Economics.
